Programme Description
According to Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Officers and Safety Supervisors) Regulations, a proprietor of construction site, shipyard and container handling workplace have to employ safety officer for the premises if the total number of employees are 100 or more. This programme provides a specific training on safety and health for the learners aim to be a safety officer.

EME4029X - Safety and Health Legislation (36-hrs)
EME4030X - Fundamentals of Occupational Hygiene (30-hrs)
EME4035X - Safety and Health Management (30-hrs)
EME4036X - Audit and Accident Investigation (33-hrs)
EME4037X - Risk Assessment, Inspection and Integrity (33-hrs)
EME4038X - Engineering Safety (36-hrs)
Assessment
- Learners' performance in each module will be assessed by Continuous Assessment (CA) and End-of-Module Assessment (EA). The assessments will be conducted in English.
- Attendance requirement is 70% for each module.
Schedule
- 2 to 3 nights per week, 19:00 - 22:00.
- Duration: 198 hrs. The normal duration for completion of the programme is around 10 – 12 months.
External Recognition
The programme is recognised by Labour Department as one of the qualifications fulfilling the academic requirements of registration as Safety Officers. Graduates with required relevant experiences can apply the resigtration as Safety Officer. For detailed requirement of Safety Officer, please refer to the Labour Department website.

Entry Requirements
Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, or equivalent, with one year’s work experience; or
Five HKCEE subjects at Grade E/Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, or equivalent, with two years’ work experience; or
Completion of a QF Level 3 programme, or equivalent, with one year’s work experience or currently employed; or
Relevant RPL qualification(s) at QF Level 3 or above; or
Mature applicants, i.e. those aged 21 or above, with at least 2 years’ relevant work experience AND a pass an entrance assessment, which can be in an oral and/or written form, may also be accepted.
Financial Assistance Scheme
Vplus Subsidy Scheme
This course is an eligible programme under “Vplus Subsidy Scheme – Vplus Engineering”. Under this scheme, successful applicants will be refunded 60% of the tuition fees paid of eligible programmes, subject to a maximum of $45,000 per person.
Applicants should apply online within one month from the commencement of the first module for the programme concerned. Early and Late Application will not be processed.

Starting from September 2024, only electronic lecture notes would be provided for this programme.
