Professional Diploma in Communications Technologies
On completion of PD in Communications Technologies, learners will be able to:
(a) Demonstrate the ability to utilize data communications principles to design, implement and manage networks and communications systems;
(b) Display proficiency in administrating the operations of network control and services in both wired and wireless environment;
(c) Exhibit the skills to configure and integrate various types of communications and secure networking equipment in LAN and WAN;
(d) Exhibit the skills to develop communications applications that can transmit, receive, store, and retrieve data effectively with the understanding of communications protocols;
(e) Develop communications applications that can be used to control Internet-of-things (IoT) with IoT communications protocols; and
(f) Demonstrate the understanding of the latest telecommunications technologies and explain the benefits and limitations.
The professional Diploma programme offers the following modules:
Communications and Network Fundamentals (24hrs)
Wireless and Mobile Networks (24hrs)
Network Routing and Security (24hrs)
Network Programming Techniques (24hrs)
Internet-of-things Communications (24hrs)
Telecommunications Technologies (24hrs)
Schedule
- 1 Jun - 30 Nov 2024 (Saturdays) (10:00-13:00 & 14:00-17:00) *Except on 29 Jun, 28 Sep, 12 Oct
- In special circumstances, some lessons may be conducted in online mode.
- Duration: 144 hrs. The normal duration for completion of the programme is around 6 months.
Entry Requirements
Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, plus at least one year of relevant work experience; or
Five HKCEE subjects at Grade E / Level 2 or above, including English Language and Chinese Language or equivalent with 2 years relevant working experience; or
Completion of a QF Level 3 programme that is deemed acceptable to the respective Programme Board plus at least one year of relevant work experience; or
Relevant RPL qualification(s) at QF Level 3 or above plus at least one year of relevant work experience AND a pass in an entrance assessment, which can be either oral or written; or
At least two years of relevant work experience plus other relevant verifiable prior learning that are deemed appropriate by respective Programme Board AND a pass in an entrance assessment, which can be either oral or written; or
Mature applicants, i.e. those aged 21 or above with at least 2 years’ relevant working experience

Vplus Creative Industries
As a part of the Vplus Subsidy Scheme, Vplus Creative Industries is supported by the HKSAR Government to encourage working adults to pursue higher qualifications for career advancement and to promote lifelong learning.
Successful applicants can be reimbursed 60% of the tuition fees paid for the programme, maximum HK$36,000 per person. Applicants may apply for reimbursement for more than one eligible programmes.
