Glass and Façade Engineering

Course Introduction:

Code of Practice for Structural Use of Glass 2018 (Glass Code 2018) and Code of Practice on Wind Effects in Hong Kong 2019 (Wind Code 2019) have been launched by Buildings Department, and fully implemented for practical design in Hong Kong.  It is important for all Structural Engineers to understand how the new requirements in Wind Code 2019 affect the design of new developments.  By adopting new design requirement, Façade Designers and Engineers are also required to know the implication to the curtain wall and façade design.

The short course covers a wide range of knowledge glass and façade engineering from regulations, code requirements, materials, structural analysis & design, application, and practical design considerations.  It is suitable for professional engineers ranging from graduate engineers to veterans who are interested in glass and façade engineering.
