Course Objectives and Content

Professional Certificate in Community Pharmacy Practice is designed to provide a structured training programme to strength the professional knowledge and skills of personnel working in community pharmacies in Hong Kong. Participants will learn about drugs, dispensing techniques, professional ethics and customer service catered to community pharmacy practice. The curriculum encompass Hong Kong pharmacy legislation, dispensing workshops, pharmacy management and operations, good dispensing practice, basic principles in Chinese medicine, and over‑the‑counter medications.

 

The programme is recognized by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Hong Kong (“the Board”) and is offered for individuals who aspire to become Authorised Seller of Poisons (“ASP”).

Course Structure:

The programme consists of three modules with a total of 90 contact hours:

  1. Retail Pharmacy Operations and Customer Service
  2. Principles of Drugs and Medication Use
  3. Community Pharmacy Management and Practice

 

Course Schedule 

  • Commencement Date: 4 June 2026 (Thursday)
  • Class Time: 7:00 pm – 9:30 pm (2.5 hours per session)

 

Venue: (Every Thursday)

  1. Lecture: Hong Kong General Chamber of Pharmacy Limited - 13/F, Rooms 1301 – 1302, Sincere House, 83 Argyle Street, Mong Kok
  2. Dispensing Workshop: Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Chai Wan) - Teaching Block, Rooms 516/530, 30 Shing Tai Road, Chai Wan

 


Entry Requirements

• Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, plus at least one year of relevant work experience; or
• Five HKCEE subjects at Grade E / Level 2 or above, including English Language and Chinese Language with at least 1 year relevant working experience; or
• Completion of a QF Level 3 programme (e.g. Diploma of Foundation Studies) that is deemed acceptable to the respective Programme Board plus at least one year of relevant work experience; or
• 21 years old or above with 2 years relevant working experience, may be admitted subject to passing an interview and / or aptitude test, if necessary

Payment by cheque: Tuition fee of HK$6,300, cheque should be crossed and made payable to “Vocational Training Council”.
