Have a story to tell but not sure how to bring it to life? This 5-day programme will help you tell your story through animation — from developing your plot and designing your characters, to motion production and post-production editing — with AI tools powering every step of the creative process. No prior animation experience needed. By the end of the programme, you will take home an animated short film that is entirely your own!
What You Will Experience
- Explore the World of Animation: Cover story development, character design, motion production, and post-production — gaining a comprehensive understanding of the animated short film pipeline.
- Create Your Own Work: Leave the programme with a personally crafted animated short film.
- AI Creative Techniques in Practice: Use AI tools to assist with character design, motion production, and background music — experiencing a whole new approach to digital creation.
- Professional Post-Production Skills: Learn voiceover recording, sound design, editing, and colour grading — mastering the post-production pipeline of real-world film and media production.
Programme Highlights
- Hand-Drawn × AI Creation: Combine traditional hand-drawn techniques with AI assistance to explore the creative possibilities at the intersection of craft and technology.
- Complete Short Film Production Experience: From script to screen — a comprehensive, end-to-end journey through every key stage of animation production.
- Behind-the-Scenes Tour: Explore HKDI Atelier's state-of-the-art knowledge centres, including the Comics Library, Fashion Resource Centre, Visual Communication Resource Centre, Materials Research Lab, Media Lab, V-Sion Space, and V Music Library.
- Certified Achievement: Receive an HKDI certificate and a professional letter of recommendation.
