Programme Description
To support the new regulatory regime on Small Unmanned Aircraft (SUA), the subject pilot scheme course is designed according to the requirement of Civil Aviation Department (CAD) for Advanced Rating training courses.  The programme introduces the new regulatory requirements and develop learners’ situational awareness and safety management skills through flight planning, risk assessment and mitigating measures, so as to enable graduates to apply to CAD for Advanced Rating.  
Programme Structure 
TRN4820X - Theoretical Knowledge of Small Unmanned Aircraft (20 hours)
TRN4821X - Flight Training of Small Unmanned Aircraft (10 hours)
Learners' performance in each module will be assessed by Continuous Assessment (CA) and End-of-Module Assessment (EA). 
Attendance Requirement
The minimum attendance requirement for an individual module is 90% of the maximum attendance respectively
Medium of Instruction (MOI)
The medium of instruction is Chinese and supplemented with English terminologies.  All teaching materials and written assessments are in English.
TRN4820X - Theoretical Knowledge of Small Unmanned Aircraft
- One night per week (tentatively from 19:00 – 22:00 on weekdays)
- Lessons will be conducted in online mode In special circumstances
TRN4821X - Flight Training of Small Unmanned Aircraft
- Tentatively to be held on weekends; will be held on weekdays subject to class arrangement and venue availability
- The End-of-Module Assessment (EA) of this module will be held on weekday
Class Arrangement on Usage of SUA
- Learners can bring their own SUA and required components for flight training and assessments. The SUA should be less than 7kg with maximum ground speed lower than 50km/hr and maximum distance from person flying SUA less than 500m.
- SUA are available for learners for borrowing during the class
External Recognition
Upon passing the assessments, meeting the attendance requirements and having learners’ valid SUA Remote Pilot Certificate#, learners will receive "Certificate of Recognition in Small Unmanned Aircraft (SUA) Advanced Rating Theoretical Knowledge" and "Certificate of Recognition in Small Unmanned Aircraft (SUA) Advanced Rating Practical Assessment". The certificates will be considered as the evidence of remote pilot’s competence when applying to CAD for Advanced Rating.
#The SUA Remote Pilot Certificate is required to be obtained by individuals via CAD’s new electronic portal for launch in the first quarter of 2022.  For details, please refer to Annex G of Legislative Council Brief.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should provide record(s) of flight experience* unless possessing qualifications deemed acceptable to the Programme Board, plus fulfilling one of the general entry requirements below:

- Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, or equivalent with one year work experience; or
- Five HKCEE subjects at Grade E/Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, or equivalent with two years' work experience; or
- Completion of a QF Level 3 programme or equivalent, with one year's work experience or currently employed; or
- Relevant RPL qualification(s) at QF Level 3 or above AND a pass in an entrance assessment, which can be either oral or written; or
- Mature applicants, i.e. those aged 21 or above with at least two years' relevant working experience, can be admitted. Where appropriate, the applicant may be required to pass an entrance assessment, which can be in an oral and/or written form.

Financial Assistance Scheme

This programme has been included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Vplus Engineering. Successful applicants will be refunded 60% of the tuition fees of eligible programmes.
