Programme Description
This programme aims to provide the trade practitioners specific vocational and professional education & training in some key areas of Power Engineering including permit-to-work safety system, design, installation, testing and commissioning, operation and maintenance of the high-voltage power systems.

EEE4003X - Practices of Inspection, Testing and Commissioning on High Voltage Switchboard and its Ancillary Equipment (52 hrs)
Power Systems Stream
EEE4004X - Power System Protection and Control System (33 hrs)
EEE4005X - Power System Cables (33 hrs)
EEE4006X - Power System Overhead Lines (30 hrs)
EEE4007X - Power System Plant Equipment (30 hrs)
EEE4008X - Power System Planning & Design (27 hrs)
Power Plants Stream
EEE4022X - Control and Automation (36 hrs)
EEE4023X - Electrical Rotating Machines (27 hrs)
EEE4024X - Materials and Chemistry (30 hrs)
EEE4025X - Mechanical Equipment (36 hrs)
EEE4026X - Electrical Systems (24 hrs)
Learners should select the module set of either Power Systems Stream or Power Plants Stream for completion of the Professional Diploma.
Assessment
Students' performance in each module is assessed by Continuous Assessment (CA) and End-of-Module Assessment (EA). Assessments are conducted in English.
Schedule
- 2 to 3 nights per week, 18:45 - 21:45
- Practical lessons may be arranged in Saturday (normally 12:00 - 18:30), detail arrangement will be announced during class.
- In special circumstances, some lessons may be conducted in online mode.
- Duration: 296 hrs. The whole programme can be completed in around 15 to 18 months.
External Recognition
This programme is recognised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) as one of the approved training programmes serving the high-voltage engineering industry. Holder of a Grade B or Grade C REW certificate may apply for registration as Grade H Electrical Worker upon completion of the programme.
