The Professional Diploma in Interior Design provides learners with the professional acumen to practise as a spatial designer, with attunement to the latest technology and design trends.
The programme is organised around nine modules (30 hours each) that cover:
- Visualisation and Presentation: beginning with two-dimensional drawing, you will explore design, develop precision in drafting, create 3D models and renderings, and eventually produce your own interior design drawings, with mastery in mixed media design software including AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, 3DMax and V-Ray.
- Design Studio: based on the design thinking process which focuses on user experience perspective, you will learn spatial planning, site-specific typology, and choice of materials in interior design, to be applied across residential and commercial projects under a set brief, and a self-initiated project.
- Professional Practice: provides you with the understanding and necessary know-how about building materials and technology, design consultancy and project administration, and additions and alterations in building works.
Get yourself ready
The programme is about interior design – the use of space that appeals to user behaviour and experience, which is more than renovation. Design methodology and design thinking will be taught, as a guide for learners to come up with design solutions. As emerging interior designers or practitioners looking to advance in spatial design, you will need to be prepared to roll up your sleeves, to explore new ideas with an open mind and to face critiques.
