Programme Description
The programme aims to provide an all-round education on mechanical engineering, e.g. manufacturing systems, mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, etc. to learners. It will also help to strengthen learner's knowledge in engineering mathematics and computer-aided design (CAD).

Assessment
Students' performance in each module will be assessed by Continuous Assessment (CA) and End-of-Module Assessment (EA). The assessments will be conducted in English.
Schedule
- 2 to 3 nights per week, 18:30 – 21:30 or 19:00 – 22:00.
- In special circumstances, some lessons may be conducted in online mode.
- Duration: 338 hrs. The normal duration for completion of the programme is around 12 – 15 months.
Class Location
- Some lessons may be arragned at IVE(Tsing Yi).
Further Education
This programme paves the way for graduates to further study for a higher qualification. Upon completion of this programme, graduates can apply for the
Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) (Honours) offered by RMIT University in collaboration with School for Higher and Professional Education (SHAPE) under the Vocational Training Council(VTC) subject to the following requirements:
- English Proficiency Requirements:
IELTS 6.5 with no band lower than 6.0 or equivalent;
- Complete the following bridging modules*:
EEE4022X - Control and Automation (36 hrs)
EEE4026X - Electrical Systems (24 hrs)
(*Graduates of the PD in Power Engineering Programme (Power Plants Stream) can apply for exemption on these bridging modules.)
Entry Requirements
Completion of Professional Diploma in Power Engineering; or
Holders of Higher Diploma or Professional Diploma at QF Level 4 in engineering or relevant discipline, or equivalent, with two years' relevant work experience.
Financial Assistance Scheme
Vplus Subsidy Scheme
This course is an eligible programme under “Vplus Subsidy Scheme – Vplus Engineering”. Under this scheme, successful applicants will be refunded 60% of the paid tuition fees of eligible programmes, subject to a maximum of $45,000 per person.
