Professional Diploma in Cyber Incident Response Essentials



On completion of Professional Diploma in Cyber Incident Response Essentials, learners will be able to:
(a) adopt the network monitoring and the incident response process, including the threat landscape, targeted attack life cycle, initial attack vectors used by different threat actors, and phases of an effective incident response process;
(b) conduct system triage to answer key questions about what transpired across the environment during an incident;
(c) identify, analyse and use critical sources of evidence to investigate and analyse compromised operating systems;
(d) investigate a full environment, at scale, for signs of compromise using proactive hunting;
(e) manage and effectively record information related to ongoing investigations and incidents;
(f) manage and monitor the network intrusion detection system to perform event-based monitoring and minimise network traffic with the rule settings;
(g) design and configure a wired or wireless network for a small office and troubleshoot basic errors for a small office computer network system;
(h) install and configure a Windows/Linux server, apply essential security services, and install standard monitoring tools for system monitoring; and
(i) analyse the impact of different cyber attacks on individuals and organisations, and suggest and implement appropriate security controls to protect the computer network infrastructure based on the latest cybersecurity trends.
The professional Diploma programme offers the following modules:
Windows Incident Response (24hrs)
Linux Incident Response (24hrs)
Network Incident Response (24hrs)
Security Essentials (36hrs)
Windows Administration Essentials (21hrs)
Linux Administration Essentials (21hrs)
Network Essentials (21hrs)
Schedule
- 1 to 2 nights per week.
- In special circumstances, some lessons may be conducted in online mode.
- Duration: 171 hrs. The normal duration for completion of the programme is around 24 months.
Entry Requirements
Five HKCEE subjects at Grade E / Level 2 or above, including English Language and Chinese Language or equivalent with 2 years relevant working experience; or
Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, plus at least one year of relevant work experience; or
Completion of a QF Level 3 programme that is deemed acceptable to the respective Programme Board plus at least one year of relevant work experience; or
Relevant RPL qualification(s) at QF Level 3 or above plus at least one year of relevant work experience AND a pass in an entrance assessment, which can be either oral or written; or
At least two years of relevant work experience plus other relevant verifiable prior learning that are deemed appropriate by respective Programme Board AND a pass in an entrance assessment, which can be either oral or written; or
Mature applicants, i.e. those aged 21 or above, with at least 2 years’ relevant work experience AND a pass in the entrance assessment

As a part of the Vplus Subsidy Scheme, Vplus Creative Industries is supported by the HKSAR Government to encourage working adults to pursue higher qualifications for career advancement and to promote lifelong learning.
Successful applicants can be reimbursed 60% of the tuition fees paid for the programme, maximum HK$36,000 per person. Applicants may apply for reimbursement for more than one eligible programmes.
