Course Description
The Professional Certificate in Environmental Management for Construction (Environmental Officer) course provides the course participants with knowledge and skills in relevant areas of environmental management to enable them to take up the position of Environmental Officer in the construction industry.
 
 
Programme Structure
CON4021Y – Environmental Legislation (30hrs)
CON4022Y – Principles of Environmental Technology (15hrs)
CON4023Y – Construction Environmental Management Plan (36hrs)
CON4024Y – Reporting and Presenting Environmental Plan (12hrs)
CON4025Y – Integrated Management System for Construction (15hrs)
 
 
Schedule
  • 1-2 evenings per week (6:30pm - 9:30pm)
  • Duration: 108 hrs. The normal duration for completion of the programme is around 6-8 months.
 
 
Medium of Instruction (MoI)
The medium of instruction is Chinese, supplemented by English terminologies.  All teaching materials including lecture notes and assessments are in English.
 
 
Assessment
Students' performance in each module is assessed by Continuous Assessment (CA) and End-of-Module Assessment (EA).
 
 
External Recognition
This programme is recognized by the Development Bureau as a qualification that satisfies the requirement of the Environmental Officer (EO) Course as stated in Appendix C of ETWB Technical Circular (Works) No. 19/2005. Graduates of this programme meet the academic requirements for EO, and if they also possess the required relevant work experience, they can obtain the basic qualifications required to become EO.
 
 
Subsidy SchemeVplus Subsidy Scheme

Starting from September 2024, only electronic lecture notes would be provided for this programme.

Entry Requirements

Completion of a relevant QF Level 3 programme including:

- Structural engineering;
- Civil engineering;
- Building;
- Construction;
- Surveying; and
- Environmental science / technology / engineering, or equivalent with two years’ relevant work experience; OR


Completion of Environmental Protection Course for Environmental Supervisors (Course Code: 1268) in IVE, with three years’ relevant work experience.

Financial Assistance Scheme

Vplus Subsidy Scheme

This course is an eligible programme under “Vplus Subsidy Scheme – Vplus Engineering”. Under this scheme, successful applicants will be refunded 60% of the paid tuition fees of eligible programmes, subject to a maximum of $45,000 per person.
