This course aims to enhance learners' ability in Science for further study. It also serves as a bridging course to supplement the entry requirement of Diploma in Plumbing Engineering.
Before admission to Diploma in Plumbing Engineering, applicant has to complete this course if he/she did not pass in Physics (HKDSE/HKCEE).

Corrosion
- Factors causing rusting of iron
- Protective coating to iron and steel
- Methods of production of chemical salt
- Action of salts on metals
- Electrolytic action
Pressure
- Definition and units of pressure
- Calculation of pressure
- Pressure acting in a direction normal to its containing surface
- Measuring instrument: U-tube manometer and Pressure gauge
Hydraulic
- Hydraulic machine, water in motion, velocity head, flow from an orifice, flow in pipes, effects of fittings on flow, momentum
Assessment
- Attendance requirement is 70%.
- Learners' performance is assessed by Continuous Assessment (CA) and End-of-Module Assessment (EA).
- To complete the course, learner is required to achieve 70% attendance requirement and get pass in CA and EA.
Medium of Instruction (MoI)
- The medium of instruction is Chinese, supplemented by English terminology.
- All teaching materials and assessments are in English.
Schedule
- 1 to 2 nights per week, 18:30 - 21:30.
- Duration: 21 hrs. The course shall normally be completed in around 2-3 months.
