- To provide academic training to the practitioners in the plumbing industry and enable them to appreciate a broad and integrated knowledge of plumbing engineering. 

- This programme is recognized by the Water Supplies Department as the Part 1 academic qualification for new Grade I Plumber's Licence.

Schedule

- 2 to 3 nights per week, 18:45 - 21:45 or 19:00 - 22:00.

- Plumbing Practical Module may be arranged in Saturday, 13:00 - 21:00, if necessary.

- Duration: 291 hours. The normal duration for completion of the programme is around 12 - 15 months.

 

Teaching Materials

All teaching materials and assessments are in English.

 

Assessment

Learners' performance in each module will be assessed by Continuous Assessment (CA) and End-of-Module Assessment (EA).

 

External Recognition

The programme is recognised by the Water Supplies Department as one of the equivalent qualifications for the Craft Certificate in Plumbing and Pipefitting as stated in Part I requirement in applying for a new Grade I Plumber's Licence. The award of the programme must be issued within 5 years before the date of the relevant application. For detailed requirements of new Grade I Plumber's Licence, please refer to the WSD website.

Course Fee: HKD$47,000

 

Entry Requirements

- Completion of S5 under the Old Academic Structure / S6 under the New Academic Structure with one year's relevant working experience; Or
- Completion of a QF Level 2 programme that is deemed acceptable to the respective Programme Board with one year's relevant working experience; Or
- Mature applicants, i.e. those aged 21 or above with at least two years' relevant working experience, may be admitted. Where appropriate, the applicant may be required to pass an entrance assessment, which can be in an oral and/or written form. 
 
Plus, fulfilling the qualifications in Plumbing Mathematics, Plumbing Science and Construction Drawing, or equivalent, that is deemed acceptable to the respective Programme Team, such as:
a. Grade E or above in HKCEE Mathematics / Level 2 or above in HKDSE Mathematics;
b. Grade E or above in HKCEE Physics / Level 2 or above in HKDSE Physics;
c. Grade E or above in HKCEE Technical Drawing.
 
Otherwise, completing the bridging modules, Plumbing Mathematics (1735), Plumbing Science (1736) and Construction Drawing (1737) are required.

Financial Assistance Scheme

1. Vplus Subsidy Scheme

This course is an eligible programme under “Vplus Subsidy Scheme - Vplus Engineering”. Under this scheme, successful applicants will be refunded 60% of the paid tuition fees of eligible programmes, subject to a maximum of HKD$45,000 per person.

2. Continuing Education Fund

This course has been included in the list of reimbursable courses under the Continuing Education Fund.
