The Certificate in Safety and Hygiene for Swimming Pool and Spa Managers is an advanced level programme designed to provide industry practitioners who are working in the swimming pool, spa, clubhouse and related leisure and recreation industry at supervisory level with both theoretical and practical knowledge. This programme is delivered through lectures, group discussions and/or instrument use demonstrations to uplift students’ knowledge in managing, controlling, monitoring and assessing the safety and hygiene of the swimming pool and spa facilities.

  • Manpower Management, Training and Development
  • Comprehensive Risks Review to Practitioners and Users in Swimming Pool and Spa Facilitie
  • Risk Assessment and Management
  • Practices related to Swimming Pools Regulations (Chapter 132CA )
  • Introduction to Quality Management System and Certification
  • Case Study and Discussion


Date: 9, 16, 23, 30 Jan 2020 and 6, 13, 20, 27 Feb 2020 (Thu) (Total 24 hours with 8 lessons)

Time: 6:45 p.m. – 9:45 p.m.

Venue: Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Haking Wong)

Entry Requirements

  • Completion of the Certificate in Safety and Hygiene for Swimming Pool and Spa Supervisors, or equivalent ; OR
  • At least 3 years’ relevant working experience in the leisure and recreation industry at supervisory level

Medium of Instruction: Cantonese 

Examination & Certification

Students are required to attend one-hour assessment including multiple choice questions and short questions.  Upon successful completion of the course (i.e. attended a minimum of 80% of the classes and passed the assessment), students will be awarded a certificate issued by the Hospitality Discipline of the Vocational Training Council.
