Course Description:
The course is to provide a practical understanding and appreciation of solid modelling and surface modelling techniques using SolidWorks CAD software in mechanical design and the production of design documentation.

Course Contents

Solid Modelling
- Solid modelling concepts: constructive solid geometry, boundary representation, parametric and volitional geometry and feature technology.
- Solid modelling techniques to create, edit and manipulate 3D objects.

Surface Modelling
- Surface modelling concepts: parametric curve representation, splines and nurbs.
- Surface modelling and freeform modelling techniques to create, edit and manipulate 3D objects.

Engineering Applications of 3D Drafting
- Product design
- Product documentation
- Rapid prototyping
