The programme objective of this programme is to equip rehabilitation and healthcare personnel with knowledge in the basic management of occupational therapy and physiotherapy.

On completion of the programme, learners will be able to perform the assigned tasks for assisting therapists in conducting the basic procedures according to the treatment strategies under the management of the therapist.

Hourly breakdown of contents:

(A) Module 1- Basic Management and Practices in the Occupational Therapy (45 hours)

(B) Module 2- Basic Management and Practices in the Physiotherapy (45 hours)

 

(A) Assessment items and their weightings:

(1) Module 1- Continuous Assessment 50% (Case Studies / Project / Work- shop), End of Module Assessment 50% (Project/Case Studies/Presentation);

(2) Module 2- Continuous Assessment 50% (Case Studies / Project / Work- shop), End of Module Assessment 50% (Project/Case Studies/Presentation)

 

(B) Completion Requirements:

(1) Must be at least 50% or such higher overall passing mark or grade

(2) Must be at least 70% of the total contact hours of the course.

 


Entry Requirements

(1) Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, or equivalent with at least two years’ relevant work experience+; OR
(2) Five HKCEE subjects at Grade E/Level 2 or above, including English and Chinese Languages, or equivalent with at least two years’ relevant work experience+; OR
(3) Graduates from Diploma of Foundation Studies - Health and Life Sciences* (Programme Code: FS113002A) with at least two years relevant working experience+ AND with Level 2 or above in Chinese Language at HKDSE

*Formerly named as Diploma of Foundation Studies - Applied Science

+The types of prior learning and/or work experience refer to rehabilitation and healthcare industries.

Mature applicants
*Mature applicants, i.e., those aged 21 or above with at least two years’ work experience (relevant work experience is preferable), may also be accepted. Where appropriate, the applicants may be required to pass an entrance assessment, which can be in an oral and/or written.
