Course Description
This course introduces students to the foundational concepts of artificial intelligence (AI) and its practical applications in educational contexts. It covers essential AI knowledge, explores various generative AI tools, and teaches prompt engineering techniques tailored for educational settings. Through lectures and hands-on workshops, students will learn to develop teaching and learning materials using generative AI while ensuring compliance with the principles of Responsible AI.
Upon completion, students will be able to:
- demonstrate foundational knowledge of artificial intelligence and its practical applications within teaching and learning contexts;
- utilize prompt engineering techniques effectively to leverage generative AI tools for educational purposes; and
- apply generative AI tools to support the development of teaching and learning materials, ensuring alignment with ethical standards and the principles of Responsible AI.
Course Content
- Artificial Intelligence Essentials and Applications
- Overview of artificial intelligence: history, evolution, and key concepts.
- Exploration of AI applications specifically within educational contexts.
- Generative AI Tools and Prompt Engineering Techniques
- Identification and comparison of various generative AI models and platforms.
- Practical application of prompt engineering techniques to optimize the usage of generative AI tools.
- Practical Implementation and Responsible AI Principles
- Introduction to and discussion of Responsible AI principles, including ethical considerations and best practices.
- Hands-on workshop focused on developing practical teaching and learning materials using generative AI tools, aligned with Responsible AI principles.
