Aims

  • The programme aims to provide opportunities for learners to acquire academic training and qualification in plumbing engineering so as to enhance their personal or career development.
  • This programme is recognized by the Water Supplies Department as the Part 1 academic qualification for new Grade I Plumber’s Licence.

Teaching Materials

All teaching materials and assessments are in English (Except MBS3025X).

 

Assessment

Learners' performance in each module will be assessed by Continuous Assessment (CA) and End-of-Module Assessment (EA).

 

Schedule

- 2 to 3 nights per week, 18:30 - 21:30 or 19:00 – 22:00.

- In special circumstances, some lessons may be conducted in online mode.

- Duration: 258 hrs. The normal duration for completion of the programme is around 12-15 months.

External Recognition

The programme is recognised by the Water Supplies Department as one of the equivalent qualifications for the Craft Certificate in Plumbing and Pipefitting as stated in Part I requirement in applying for a new Grade I Plumber's Licence.  It must be offered in academic year 2020/21 or after and the award of the programme must be issued within 5 years before the date of the relevant application. Course Fee: HKD$37,500

 

 

Entry Requirements

Five HKCEE subjects at Grade E or above, including English Language and Chinese Language or equivalent with 2 years working experience; or
Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English Language and Chinese Language or equivalent with 1 year working experience; or
Holder of Diploma / Higher Certificate in relevant subject or equivalent with 1 year working experience; or
Completion of a QF Level 3 programme that is deemed acceptable to the respective Programme Board with 1 year working experience; or

21 years old or above with 3 years relevant working experience, may be admitted subject to passing an interview and / or aptitude test, if necessary.

Financial Assistance Scheme

Vplus Subsidy Scheme

This course is an eligible programme under “Vplus Subsidy Scheme – Vplus Engineering”. Under this scheme, successful applicants will be refunded 60% of the paid tuition fees of eligible programmes, subject to a maximum of $45,000 per person.
