This is Development Bureau Recognized Continuing Education in Arboriculture (CEA) Course under the Registration Scheme for Tree Management Personnel (RSTMP).
 
RSTMP Course Code: A-FA3-202306-1
(The subject course is identical to the course with code A&TWS-FA3-202238-1.)
 
Functional Area: Plant selection, cultivation and propagation
 
This course enhances participants’ knowledge on the practical aspects of plant purchase, nursery stock transportation and develops the industry standards for nursery stock. It develops participants’ abilities to adopt a contextual approach in setting up and running profitable and efficient nursery businesses at various scales of operation.
 
 
The following topics will be covered:
 
1. Organisation and development of nursery 
  • Establish of physical infrastructure 
  • Plant selection and purchase 
  • Transplanting 
  • Potting, de-potting and repotting

2. Operations in nursery 

  • Nursery stock transportation 

3. Business management of nursery industry 

  • Laws, regulations, standards, and codes 
  • Nursery inventory control 
  • Shipping of nursery stock 
  • Quarantine practice 

 


Entry Requirements

Registered Arborists under the Registration Scheme for Tree Management Personnel (RSTMP) are the target participants of the Course, which can apply for CEA hours under the key job function covered by the Course, while other Registered tree management personnel under the RSTMP may participate for optional CEA hours

Assessment
Written assessment will be arranged at the end of the lesson. The passing mark is 70%.
 
Certificate
Certificate of completion will be issued for those who achieves 100% attendance and pass the written assessment.
 
Attendance Rules
Before the start of the class, if a student faces any unforeseen circumstances including but not limited to traffic accidents, sudden illness, and serious injuries which may cause him or her to be late for the class for more than 10 minutes, he or she should try to reach the teacher or the administrative staff via phone or email.
 
If a student fails to turn up in the teaching venue in the first 10 minutes of the class, this will be considered non-attendance. The student will not be allowed to take the assessment. However, if lateness is caused by valid reasons, including but not limited to traffic accidents, sudden illness, and serious injuries, non-attendance will not be resulted when the student presents a valid reason to the teacher afterwards.
 
During the course, if a student needs to be excused from the ongoing class for a short moment, he or she needs to get permission from the teacher for being away temporarily. In case of emergency, including but not limited to acute pain and nausea, permission can be obtained afterwards. With permission, non-attendance will not be resulted.
 

 

THEi reserves the right to cancel or postpone the course, revise course title, content or change the class venue(s) or offering mode before class commencement if circumstances so warrant. Students will be duly informed of such arrangement.
