On completion of the module, learners are expected to be able to:
- Provide training to IT practitioners with sound conceptual knowledge of mobile technology and sufficient hands-on practice to apply the knowledge and skills acquired for developing software for mobile devices such as iPhone and Android devices.
- Teach the learners how to develop various enterprise application for mobile devices.
- Teach the learners how to design the user interface for mobile devices; and
- Produce learners who are able to develop and deploy software on mobile devices for large corporations as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Hong Kong.
Course Content
This course offers mobile technology comprising three components: Android Application Development, Enterprise Server Techniques for Mobile Applications, and iOS Application Development.
For the Android Application Development, it covers the basics of programming skills for Android, as well as app debugging and user interface design. We'll explore standard UI components and event handling for user inputs. Additionally, we'll cover data storage, including the manipulation of the file system and working with databases. We'll also touch upon location-based services, including the utilization of location services. Furthermore, we'll discuss advanced application components such as services and notifications. Lastly, we'll explore network and communication aspects, such as pairing with common data interchange formats. Finally, we'll touch upon the process of submitting applications to the Android Market.
The Enterprise Server Technique for Mobile Application encompasses the installation and setup of the web server, as well as the development of the mobile website. This process involves utilizing client-side programming languages and CSS frameworks. Additionally, database connectivity is crucial, requiring the establishment of a connection to the database and manipulation of its data to accomplish specific tasks. In the context of back-end mobile web development for enterprises, server-side programming languages are employed to create dynamic websites tailored to meet the organization's specific requirements.
For the iOS Application Development, it covers general programming skills specific to iOS, as well as app debugging and benchmarking techniques. We'll delve into user interface design and event handling, exploring standard UI components and how to receive and handle device and application events. Data persistency will be discussed, including manipulating the file system and working with databases. Additionally, we'll touch upon location-based services using the Core Location framework. Network and communication aspects will cover multi-peer connections, web services, and parsing common data interchange formats. Lastly, we'll explore the procedures for setting up user certification for development and submitting applications to the Apple App Store.
