Programme Description
According to Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Officers and Safety Supervisors) Regulations, a principal contractor or a specialist contractor must employ one safety supervisor on each site with 20 or more workers. This programme provides a specific training on safety and health for the learners aim to be a safety supervisor.
Programme Structure
MBS3038X - Engineering Safety Management (12 hrs)
MBS3039X - Occupational Hygiene (12 hrs)
MBS3040X - Accident Prevention (12 hrs)
MBS3041X - Workplace Safety (7 hrs)
Assessment
- Learners' performance in each module will be assessed by End-of-Module Assessment (EA). The assessments will be conducted in Chinese.
- Attendance requirement is 70% for each module.
Schedule
- 2 to 3 nights per week, 19:00 - 22:00 or Saturdays.
- Duration: 43 hrs. The normal duration for completion of the programme is around 2 months.
Career Prospect
Learners who have successfully completed the programme possess the necessary qualifications and capability in performing the specified duties as Safety Supervisors under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Safety Officers and Safety Supervisors) Regulations. Graduates with relevant required experience can apply Accredited Safety Supervisor (Construction) to Occupational Safety & Health Council (OSHC). Recognised Qualification
Qualifications Framework ( QF ) Level 3 under the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ), which fulfill the OSHC’s academic requirement of safety supervisor course.
Entry Requirements
Completion of S6 under the new academic structure / S5 under the old academic structure, or equivalent, with one year’s work experience; or
Completion of QF Level 2 programme, or equivalent, with one year’s work experience; or
Relevant RPL qualification(s) at QF Level 2 or above.
Financial Assistance Scheme
Vplus Subsidy Scheme
This course is an eligible programme under “Vplus Subsidy Scheme – Vplus Engineering”. Under this scheme, successful applicants will be refunded 60% of the paid tuition fees of eligible programmes, subject to a maximum of $45,000 per person.
