The programme objectives of Certificate in SCUBA Diving for Marine Ecological Survey are to:
1. train learners to obtains the ‘Open Water Diver’ certificate issued by international diver training organization;
2. provide learners with the knowledge on marine habitats, ecosystem services, biodiversity and threats; and
3. equip learners with the field survey techniques to assess the ecological status of marine habitats.
On completion of Certificate in SCUBA Diving for Marine Ecological Survey, learners will be able to:
(a) obtain the ‘Open Water Diver’ certificate issued by international diver training organization (PILO1) ;
(b) describe the marine habitat types, ecosystem services, biodiversity and threats (PILO2);
(c) and apply field survey techniques to assess the ecological status of marine habitats (PILO3);
Hourly breakdown of contents:
- Open Water SCUBA Diving (39 hours)
- Marine Ecological Survey (26 hours)
Assessment items and their weightings:
Open Water SCUBA Diving
- Continuous Assessment 50% (Practical Test, Report)
- End of Module Assessment 50% (Practical Test, Test)
Marine Ecological Survey
- Continuous Assessment 50% (Reports)
- End of Module Assessment 50% (Test, Case Studies/Presentation)
入學條件
(1) Completion of Secondary 6 (S6); or
(2) Completion of a QF Level 2 programme that is deemed acceptable to the respective Programme Board; or
(3) Relevant recognition of prior learning (RPL) qualification(s) at QF Level 2 or above; or
(4) Other relevant verifiable prior learning and/or work experience that is/are deemed appropriate by respective Programme Board; or
(5) Equivalent.
AND
(1) Completion of health declaration requirements required by international dive training organization; and
(2) Completion of waterskill assessments required in module ‘SAS3960S Open Water SCUBA Diving’
Applicant must achieve the following TWO waterskills assessment in the swimming pool session provided:
(1) Complete a 10-min swim/float without using any swim aids
(2) Complete a 200-metre continuous surface swim OR a 300-metre continuous swim with mark, fins and snorkel.
