The Professional Certificate in Building Diagnosis and Inspection course is designed for building inspectors, surveyors, building diagnosticians and laboratory engineers who want to enhance their knowledge and skills in carrying out building diagnosis and inspection duties.
The learning contents are designed in consultation with and the Materials Division of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) and the Hong Kong Concrete Institute (HKCI).
Programme Structure
The programme offers five core modules and six elective modules (15 hrs each):

CON4011Y Testing Technology (Half-cell Potential Measurement, Covermeter and Pull-off Tester)
CON4012Y Testing Technology (Concrete and Rebar Quality Test)

Elective Modules (Select 2)
CON4014Y Concrete Technology (Mix and Properties)
CON4015Y Concrete Technology (Application and Quality Control)
CON4016Y Building Defects and Condition Survey

Assessment
Students' performance in each module is assessed by Continuous Assessment (CA) and End-of-Module Assessment (EA). Assessments are conducted in English.
Schedule
- 1-3 nights per week, 19:00 - 22:00
- Duration: 105 hrs. Subject to the availability of elective modules, the whole programme may be completed in 9-12 months.
Entry Requirements
Completion of a QF Level 3 programme that is deemed acceptable to the respective Programme Board with at least 1 year relevant working experience
Five HKCEE subjects at Grade E / Level 2 or above, including English Language and Chinese Language or equivalent with 2 years relevant working experience
21 years old or above with 2 years relevant working experience, may be admitted subject to passing an interview and / or aptitude test, if necessary
Five HKDSE subjects at Level 2 or above, including English Language, Chinese Language with 1 year relevant working experience
