Programme Description
This programme aims to provide a study path for electrical practitioners and equip them with professional knowledge on electrical installation, electrical system and power system in order to meet the academic requirement for the registration as Registered Electrical Workers (REW).

EEE3004X - Safe Work Practices on High Voltage Systems and Equipment (39 hrs)*
EEE3005X - Electrical Power System (39 hrs)*
EEE3007X - Engineering Mathematics (39 hrs)*
EEE3008X - Advanced Engineering Mathematics (39 hrs)
EEE3009X - Circuit Theory 3A (39 hrs)
EEE3010X - Electrical Principles B (52 hrs)
EEE3011X - Electrical Installation 3A (52 hrs)
EEE3012X - Electrical Installation 3B (52 hrs)
EEE3013X - Electrical Power and Machines (39 hrs)
 
*Graduates of "Diploma in Power Engineering [EG423401P]" may apply for module exemption for module EEE3004X, EEE3005X and EEE3007X.
 
 
Assessment
Learners' performance in each module will be assessed by Continuous Assessment (CA) and End-of-Module Assessment (EA).
 
 
Medium of Instruction (MoI)
The medium of instruction is Chinese and supplemented with English terminologies.  All teaching materials and written assessments are in Chinese.
 
 
Schedule
- 2 to 3 nights per week, generally 18:45 - 21:45.
- Practical lessons may be arranged on Saturday (13:00 - 17:00 or 18:00 - 22:00), detail arrangement will be announced during class.
- In special circumstances, some lessons may be conducted in online mode.
- Duration: 455 hrs. The normal duration for completion of the programme is around 2 years.
 
 
External Recognition
- The programme is recognised by the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) as one of the qualifications fulfilling the academic requirements of registration as a Grade B Electrical Worker. Graduates with required working experience may apply for a Grade B REW certificate. For detailed requirements of Grade B REW, please refer to the EMSD website.

Entry Requirements

- Completion of Diploma in Power Engineering; or
- Has held, or qualified to hold, a qualification fulfilling the academic requirements for registration as Grade A Electrical Worker*; or
- A holder of Grade "A" Electrical Worker Registration Certificate and completion of S6/S5, or equivalent; or
- A holder of Grade "A" Electrical Worker Registration Certificate and aged 21 or above with at least two years' relevant work experience, may also be accepted. Where appropriate, may be required to pass an entrance assessment.

Financial Assistance Scheme

Vplus Subsidy Scheme

This course is an eligible programme under “Vplus Subsidy Scheme – Vplus Engineering”. Under this scheme, successful applicants will be refunded 60% of the paid tuition fees of eligible programmes, subject to a maximum of $45,000 per person.
